Chapter 4
The Livestream
673 words
Marcus recovered my savings and the apartment within days.
Do not ask me how.
My brother has lawyers who speak gently and make people sign quickly.
He also bought me a villa in the most expensive district of New Harbor.
“Congratulations on being single,” he said, placing the property papers in front of me.
“I’m not divorced yet.”
“You will be.”
Victor, however, refused to sign.
He spread rumors that Marcus had robbed the Wei family.
His brothers pushed the old cheating video again.
WeiTech tried to frame the divorce as a family misunderstanding.
Unfortunately for them, I was a technical secretary.
The original video metadata was easy to restore.
So was the editing trail.
My former company released a statement clarifying the clip had been maliciously altered.
Then Marcus exposed Hana’s identity online.
WeiTech fell into a public relations storm.
Victor panicked.
And when men like Victor panic, they reach for the woman they believe they can still use.
He drove a hundred kilometers with Hana to find me at my country house.
Then he opened a livestream.
“Hello, everyone,” Victor said, smiling into the camera. “I’m Victor Wei. Recently, my divorce rumors have caused trouble. I’m here with my wife now.”
He reached for my shoulder.
I stepped away.
He laughed as if we were teasing.
“Our relationship is fine. My friend misunderstood something, and I believed him. Lydia and I have already reconciled.”
The livestream comments were tightly controlled.
Anything mentioning Hana disappeared.
Then the spam began.
Please explain your relationship with Hana Mori and your son.
Deleted.
Please explain your relationship with Hana Mori and your son.
Deleted.
Please explain your relationship with Hana Mori and your son.
The same sentence filled the screen faster than his people could block it.
Victor’s smile twitched.
He dragged the phone back toward me.
“My wife and I are staying in the countryside. We don’t know what rumors malicious people are spreading, but we will face this together.”
I opened my mouth.
He ended the livestream.
His smile vanished.
“Lydia,” he said, voice low, “think carefully.”
I folded my arms.
“You came here to make me act as your crisis PR?”
He stepped closer.
“Three years. Was I good to you or not?”
Once, yes.
That was the problem.
He had been good enough to make the knife feel impossible until it was already inside me.
“I kept Hana outside because I didn’t want to trouble you,” he said. “Your health is poor. My parents wanted a grandchild. I needed a son.”
I stared.
“Listen to yourself.”
He knelt suddenly.
Tears filled his eyes.
“I was wrong. I won’t see Hana again. You are still my wife. Help me this once.”
His hands wrapped around my wrist.
Hard.
I winced.
“Victor, let go.”
At that moment, Hana appeared behind him.
She heard enough to understand.
“Victor,” she said softly, “take me away. Our child needs a complete family.”
Victor froze.
Then Theo came running from the house, still sleepy from his nap.
“Daddy!”
The word shattered the air.
Hana’s face changed.
She looked at Theo.
Then at me.
Victor had clearly not explained who Theo was.
Jealousy flashed across her face.
Before anyone could stop her, Hana slapped me.
“You shameless woman!”
My cheek burned.
I raised my hand to my face.
Then my country caretaker, Mrs. Lane, grabbed Hana by the hair and threw her to the ground.
Beautiful woman.
Victor rushed to Hana.
Theo began to cry.
I lifted him and held him tightly.
That was when Marcus’s car pulled into the courtyard.
Victor’s face turned green.
My brother stepped out.
Saw my red cheek.
Saw Hana on the ground.
Saw Victor holding her.
Marcus kicked Hana without hesitation.
“Do not bring shameless filth into my sister’s house.”
I followed with my own kick.
“Exactly. I told her to leave.”
Hana sobbed and clung to Victor.
Victor looked at us.
“What will make you let her go?”
Marcus and I answered together.
“Sign. Divorce. Take your people and get out.”
