Chapter 2
The Worst Blind Date
411 words
After Father heard Julian and I had broken up, he arranged a blind date for me immediately.
He had always wanted me to bring home a boyfriend and eventually take over the company with a suitable husband at my side.
I had never told him about Julian.
Now I sat across from a male university lecturer with oily confidence and thin lips.
“Miss Jiang,” he said, adjusting his glasses, “I’ll be direct.”
“Please do.”
“I am a professor and a teacher. My salary is enough to support you.”
“How generous.”
“After marriage, I hope you will give birth to a son as soon as possible and focus on family. My parents sacrificed a lot to raise me. Their health is poor, so you must be filial and care for them properly.”
I smiled.

“Mr. Li,” I said, folding my arms, “let me be direct too.”
He nodded, pleased.

“I own a house, a car, and savings,” I continued. “I can support you.”
His smile froze.
“After marriage, I do not want children immediately. You can stay home with my father, entertain him, make him happy, and be a good son-in-law.”
His face turned red.
Then he threw water at me.
Before it reached my face, a board appeared in front of me.
The water splashed back onto him.
A familiar voice said coldly,
“Get out.”
Julian.
Of course.
The lecturer stormed away, soaked and humiliated.
I picked up my bag and walked out.
Julian followed.
“Iris, I know you’re angry,” he said. “When everything is over, I’ll explain. Trust me.”
I stopped and pressed my bag against his chest to keep distance.
“First, I am not angry. We broke up because that was inevitable.”
His jaw tightened.
“Second, you are now my brother. Only my brother.”
He flinched.
“Third,” I said, looking into his eyes, “I am the heir of Jiang Group. Whatever you want, remember this: illegitimate sons do not inherit what belongs to me.”
For once, Julian had no answer.
That made me feel better.
Briefly.
