She Came to My House
385 words
The next evening, I went home to deal with Jason.
When I opened the door, my parents were sitting in the living room.
Across from them sat Brianna.
She saw me and froze.
“Why are you here?”
I raised an eyebrow.
“Interesting question. This is my home.”
My mother looked between us.
“Olivia, you know this young lady?”
“My roommate.”
I walked in.
“Mom, why is she here?”
My mother hesitated.
“She said she is your brother’s girlfriend.”
Brianna’s face went white.
I smiled.
“Don’t call my mother Mom. She is not yours.”
Brianna trembled.
I turned to my parents.
“She is not Ethan’s girlfriend.”
Brianna opened her mouth.
I continued,
“She is Jason’s girlfriend.”
My parents frowned.
I explained everything.
Brianna claiming the baby’s father was Guotai’s general manager.
Her demanding the dorm serve her.
Her posting lies on the campus confession page.
Her waking me at midnight for noodles.
Her knowing Jason had a fiancée yet still trying to force her way in.
My mother’s expression worsened with every sentence.
Brianna finally shouted,
“No! He is the general manager! My cousin heard people call him Young Master Guo at the company!”
I looked at her like she was an idiot.
“At Guotai, half the relatives get called Young Master by someone trying to be polite. That does not make him CEO.”
My mother called Jason.
The moment she mentioned Brianna, Jason panicked.
He asked to speak to her.
Brianna grabbed the phone, voice shaking.
Before she could accuse him, Jason began cursing.
“You crazy woman! Why did you go there?”
Her face drained.
“You said you would marry me.”
“I said a lot of things.”
“You said you would divorce that old woman!”
Jason laughed coldly.
“Do you think your few thousand dollars make you worth marrying? I thought you were some rich girl. Turns out you’re ordinary. If you weren’t obedient and pretty, I would have dumped you earlier.”
Brianna’s hand loosened.
The phone fell.
I picked it up and ended the call.
The room was silent.
I called the housekeeper to send Brianna out.
Before she left, I said one last thing.
“You are young. Don’t destroy your life over a man like him.”
She turned back.
For once, there was no arrogance in her eyes.
Only confusion.
And fear.
